March 19, 2008
I myself marched during the Civil Rights Movement in 1963 to voice my insistence on achieving racial equality. Those were the days of Selma and Montgomery, the slain civil rights workers, Bull Connor and the water hoses and police dogs, Faubus, Wallace and Thurmond. At that time I lived on the Upper Upper West Side of Manhattan and in 1964 race riots broke out 1 mile north of where my family lived in our apartment. But that was a long time ago and today Black people go to the finest universities instead of a Governor blocking their way. They are professionals in law, medicine, professorship and become astronauts.
Race relations will never be perfect for anyone in America in our lifetime but before the emergence of Barack Obama in this Election 2008 we all, black and white were doing pretty good and getting along better than we have for many years. Suddenly I am looking at a 1964 election with racial divides popping up everywhere from all sides and the media bogged down with Obama's personal problems instead of concentrating on the issues that if not addressed in lieu of racial considerations and events in Obama's complicated lifestyle will only begin to ruin black and white families together. Of course race relations is an issue to contend with and attempt to improve at all times. The economic meltdown consisting of the spiraling stock market, the housing crisis, the sub-crime mortgage situation, universal health care, the war, rogue enemy nations, oil prices and education are all far more important at this time to deal with. Obama has maneuvered this country into an unnecessary and damaging discussion of race relations that while important were essentially launched by his personal involvements and may end up causing the media and voters to be mired in a quixotic and meandering trip down memory lane hurling this secondary discussion around and around possibly into the General Election which will be devastating, causing us to be enjoined from attacking the big problems at hand. Just remember, Obama's relationships (2) in Chicago, his lack of experience mostly walking out of the room on meetings and discussions, his slick and non-specific speeches, his unclear and super repetitive "change" word which deluded young and inexperienced voters, his wife's disrespectful remarks about our country and much more, originally caused justifiable criticism of him by voters and the media. That vetting of a Presidential Candidate angered his community who in their frenzy to win the Presidency even if it meant electing an ersatz Black President initiated a feud that was unknown in 2007. The preacher screamed out an allegation that the US had created HIV in the Black community and supplied Black people with illegal material and then jailed them. He also simulated sexual events from the pulpit referring to President Clinton. In that old New York neighborhood I spoke about if this preacher screamed like that on 79th Street and Broadway it is very likely that a passerby would dial 911 and the preacher may have been taken by police to a famous hospital on second avenue called Bellevue. There are many commentators on news programs who are legitamizing Obama's ties as a listener to what are actually truly psychotic statements and behavior. His preacher clearly said that America created the infusion of HIV Aids in Black people, meaning that in his estimation this country committed attempted murder against it's citizens. Bizarre statements from the preacher surrounded our greatest tradgedy as a nation in 2001. Obama denies that he knew any of these revelations during an intimate 20 year relationship with the preacher. The other 15 year relationship in Chicago is still under investigation by the press and media. I don't know what else is going to surface but perhaps the preacher should ask Obama to set him up with a good doctor who may possibly suggest an Abilify or Seoquel perscription.
